Accessibility
Last updated: October 23, 2026
We want everyone to be able to use itwala, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard used by Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the federal Accessible Canada Act.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “skip” link.
- Forms have labels and clear error messages that are announced to screen readers.
- Text and buttons meet contrast requirements, and the layout adapts to phones and to 200% zoom.
- Videos play muted, can be paused, and have a written description beside them.
- We test pages with automated accessibility checks.
Known limitations
Project videos are visual walkthroughs of websites without narration; the text in each post describes what they show. If something on itwala is hard to use, please tell us.
